Context
Epilepsy affects nearly 80,000 people in Switzerland, including 20,000 children. At HUG, the EEG and Epileptology Unit cares for about 3,500 patients annually, both adults and children. These exams enable timely and accurate management but require advanced technical expertise. Currently, there is no structured training in French-speaking Switzerland for EEG technicians, and suitable French-language educational resources are lacking. The QS12-43 project turns this challenge into an opportunity: creating a reference book, practical posters, and an interactive e-learning tool to strengthen skills and ensure the highest quality in EEG examinations.
Project
The project aims to develop three complementary educational tools: an illustrated French-language book explaining the practical and technical basics of EEG, two posters (adult and pediatric) showing normal and pathological traces, and an interactive e-learning module to practice EEG reading. These resources will enable EEG technicians, nurses, and neurology residents to strengthen their skills and standardize practices. The expected impact is significant: improving the quality of EEG exams, ensuring safer patient care, and reinforcing patient trust.
