Context
Appropriate physical activity has been shown to help cancer patients maintain physical fitness, remain independent, reduce the side effects of chemotherapy treatments, and better recover from surgical interventions. In short, exercise improves patient quality of life and provides patients with real support.
Project
This project offers patients treated at the HUG the opportunity to enroll in a personalized program of physical activities with coaching and supervision from specially trained physical therapists. Starting at diagnosis, the patient is matched with these physical therapists for specific exercises designed for their issues. Patients participate in private and group classes in a gym set up for them. The benefit of the physical activity is documented.
