Context

Chronic wounds—diabetic ulcers, pressure sores, post-surgical wounds—are a major medical and human challenge. Their monitoring often requires frequent consultations, which can be difficult for vulnerable patients. Advances in digital health and artificial intelligence open new perspectives. At HUG, nearly 500 patients are treated each year in hyperbaric medicine for such conditions, providing an ideal ground for innovation. The project aims to empower patients and families with simple tools to monitor wound healing at home, detect complications early, and strengthen adherence to care.

Project

The project introduces a digital module integrated into Concerto, using AI to automatically analyze wound progression from photos taken by patients or caregivers. The tool identifies signs of healing or complications and provides tailored educational content. By enabling remote monitoring, it reassures patients, supports continuity of care, and fosters autonomy. This project combines clinical, technical, and patient expertise to build a relevant, reliable, and user-centered solution.
