Context
Rare diseases and disabilities often lead to long, complex, and challenging care journeys for children and their families. These young patients, as well as their brothers and sisters, face significant emotional, psychological, and social burdens. Equine-assisted therapy provides a unique, calming, and stimulating setting, helping to develop motor and relational skills while offering a moment of respite and shared enjoyment.
Project
Set up a weekly equine-assisted therapy program for a group of children with rare diseases and disabilities, including their brothers and sisters in order to strengthen family bonds. The sessions will be led by specialized equine therapists in a safe environment tailored to the children’s specific needs.
Where do we stand?
July 2025 : The equine-assisted therapy sessions were carried out with success beyond expectations. Strong emotional bonds were formed, encouraging patients and their families to express their choices and feelings, thereby contributing to their well-being despite illness. More than 50 children benefited from the magic of this project.
