Context

The HUG emergency call center (144) manages more than 80,000 calls each year. Today, 80% of these calls are made from smartphones, opening the door to video and connected tools that can improve medical triage. Emergency nurses already guide callers remotely to perform life-saving gestures, but these skills remain largely unknown to the public. Experiences carried out between 2019 and 2023 demonstrated how Living-labs can build trust, train citizens, and transform the caregiver-patient relationship. The LiveSIMED project takes this further: creating a permanent, innovative space for realistic immersion, strengthening caregiver skills, and engaging citizens.

Project

The LiveSIMED project plans to create a dedicated 70 m² space within HUG’s emergency services, fully equipped to simulate realistic emergency scenarios. This lab will feature high-fidelity mannequins, audiovisual devices, and video debriefing equipment. Living-labs will welcome citizens, patient partners, and healthcare professionals to experience immersive training in medical regulation and first aid. Ten sessions will be organized in 2026–2027, combining training, awareness, and innovation. These experiences will test new connected tools, strengthen medical regulator training, and develop a strong community of citizen first responders. More than a simulation space, LiveSIMED will be a catalyst for innovation, training, and trust.
