Better Understanding Multiple Sclerosis

Improve understanding of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis by studying the connection between metabolism and the autoimmune system.

Context

Multiple sclerosis is a common autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. This complex disease has a poorly understood etiology; its origins are attributed to both genetic and environmental factors.
We know that cold and heat influence the evolution of the disease and that brown fat tissue might be a determining factor in this phenomenon.

 

Project

This project entails studying the molecular mechanisms of brown fat tissue in the autoimmune context in order to improve our understanding of multiple sclerosis and propose new treatment options.
